Phenoxyethanol

Phenoxyethanol is a preservative that meets the USF-NF, EP, and BP monographs. It is widely used as a preservative and raw material in cosmetics, particularly in dermatological products such as sunscreens and skin creams. Additionally, 2-Phenoxyethanol serves as a preservative in vaccines and various pharmaceuticals. It functions as an antibacterial active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and exhibits excellent bactericidal and bacteriostatic properties. With low toxicity, it is highly valued in pharmaceutical applications for its effectiveness against a broad spectrum of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, and to a lesser extent, against yeast and mold.
