L-Cysteine

L-Cysteine is an essential amino acid and a key constituent of cell culture media. Supplied by Actylis, it is available as a qualified material for cell culture media production, as well as in specific quality grades used in the manufacturing of nutritional supplements. L-Cysteine is a proteinogenic amino acid incorporated into proteins as directed by the genetic code, with its thiol-side chain playing a vital role in oxidation/reduction reactions within the cell. It is essential for the formation of glutathione, an important antioxidant. L-Cysteine is particularly valuable for supplementing cell culture media, and it is a non-animal source amino acid ideal for serum-free media formulations in biomanufacturing applications.
